Southern Utah University is a resource to help local businesses fill open positions with quality applicants. With 140 undergraduate programs and 21 graduate programs and certifications, 91ɬÂþ has students pursuing degrees in just about everything. Students are eager and willing to work, which helps them gain the necessary skills for their professional careers.

The Career Center on 91ɬÂþ’s campus is an organization dedicated to assisting students in their career development process and help them become more engaged in experiential learning to enhance their future opportunities. For this reason, it is a priority for the Career Center to work closely with local businesses to help students find meaningful employment.

Here are four ways the Career Center at 91ɬÂþ can be utilized to help local businesses fill vacancies with qualified students.

Job Fairs
Every semester the Career Center hosts a student job fair for those looking for work. Two job fairs are held during the fall semester and one in the spring. This event provides a great opportunity for organizations and businesses to interface with students. There is no fee to attend and there are lots of opportunities to connect with students looking for work. The first job fair will occur on September 6th.

Jobs for T-Birds Website
Another excellent resource for local businesses is the Jobs for T-Birds website. The website lists job openings for all different types of positions and schedules including positions on and off campus, full-time and part-time jobs, internships, and summer-specific employment. Businesses and organizations can utilize this service free of charge and have their job openings and contact information listed on the website. Jobs for T-Birds is often the first website students visit when seeking employment in southern Utah.

Visit Campus on Your Own
In addition to scheduled job fairs, businesses are welcome to schedule their own visits to campus and speak with students about job opportunities in their organization through the Career Center. Up to five times per semester, employers can reserve a table in the student center and market to students throughout the day. If an employer wants to market to a specific class or club on campus, information sessions can be scheduled for those targeted groups. Employers can also schedule rooms on campus to interview students.

To schedule any of these events please contact the employer outreach coordinator.

Preparing Students to Work
The Career Center is actively preparing students to be effective and desirable employees. With an emphasis on skills like critical thinking, oral/written communication, professionalism, work ethic, competency in digital technology, and many others, students are provided with the resources they need to be valuable employees and contribute to whatever business or organization they are a part of in a meaningful way.

To attend the student jobs fair, post jobs, or otherwise inquire about recruiting students from campus please email careercenter@suu.edu or call 435-865-8785.
