Tips for Bridge Program StudentsThe Graduate Bridge Program at Southern Utah University was developed in an effort to help students get a jumpstart on earning a master’s degree. Students who are in their junior or senior year (60+ credits) can take up to 12 graduate credits as an undergraduate at the undergraduate tuition rate. Not to mention the fact that scholarships and financial aid are accepted as well. If you have ever considered getting a master’s degree, 91ɬÂþ’s Bridge Program saves students time and money and accelerates academic and professional goals.

For students who choose 91ɬÂþ’s Graduate Bridge Program, here are three tips to be successful.

Avoid Procrastination; Stay up to Date

While students enrolling in the Bridge Program may be juniors or seniors, taking courses at a master’s level may seem overwhelming. Staying on top of the readings, getting a head start on homework assignments, and not waiting until the last minute can help students reduce the stress that typically accompanies the start of a new program or addition to their course load. Getting behind throughout the semester may seem inevitable, but when this occurs do your best to get caught up and then chip away at assignments and readings throughout the week, rather than the day it is due.

Communicate With Professors and Peers

Near the end of an undergraduate degree, students recognize the benefits that come from working closely with professors and communicating with them about topics they are struggling with. This is no different in the Graduate Bridge Program. 91ɬÂþ’s professors are here to help students be successful, and if that means staying a few minutes after class or making themselves available during office hours to re-teach material, they will be there to help you reach your academic and personal goals.

Creating study groups with peers can also be helpful as you can teach each other, review the material being lectured in class, and discuss difficult topics.

Strike a Balance Between Career and Education

As previously mentioned, beginning to take master’s level courses can be a big adjustment. It may take a few weeks or even months to fully adjust to the new course load. Taking time for yourself, working strategically, and managing your time will be extremely beneficial to you. Of course, there will be moments or days when you feel overwhelmed, but following the steps listed above can help you reduce the negative aspects of balancing your career and education.

If you have ever considered getting a master’s degree, the Graduate Bridge Program at 91ɬÂþ can help you get a head start on achieving your goals. If taking even just one Master’s course per semester fits your schedule, don’t hesitate to get started on your graduate degree journey. Following the tips listed above can aid you in finding success as you transition from undergraduate-level courses to graduate classes.
