The library Family Study Room is to provide a room in the library where an 91ɬÂþ student(s) may study with their child(ren). Students will find a welcoming and comfortable space to study, do homework and complete projects while also keeping an eye on children under their care.

The Family Study Room includes: 

  • A comfortable rocking chair.
  • A diaper changing station.
  • A library computer station with dual monitors.
  • Toys, games, play kitchen, nook and story books.
  • A child-size table, chairs and couch.
  • Study space for older children.

Policy

  • The Family Study Room is ONLY for 91ɬÂþ students.
  • To use the room, a key must be checked out at the Sherratt Library Circulation Desk using a current 91ɬÂþ ID. A child(ren) must be present to receive a key.
  • The key must be returned promptly to the Circulation Desk at the conclusion of the reservation period or fines may apply.
  • Room use is limited to a single family at a time. Children in the room are the responsibility of the parent(s)/guardian(s) that check out the room. The maximum occupancy is 2 adults and 3 children.

Failing to adhere to the Family Study Room Policy may result in being asked to leave and/or losing use privileges.

Rules

  • Unattended children will be immediately reported to the University Police.
  • Children may not be left unattended in the Family Study Room.
  • Children must ALWAYS be accompanied and supervised by an adult, anywhere in the library.
  • Parents/guardians are solely responsible for their children's safety and behavior.
  • Adults may not use their university credentials to log children into library or other online
    resources.
  • The Family Study Room is not soundproof. There are often library employees and students
    working nearby. Children should be reminded that the library is a quiet place and they should use soft voices; all electronic devices must be kept at reasonable volume levels.
  • All Family Study Room toys, games, etc. must remain in the Family Study Room at all times.
  • Library books in the Family Study Room may be checked out at the Circulation Desk just like other books in the library.
  • Keep the room clean by disposing of all trash in designated receptacles, wiping tabletops, and promptly alerting Library Staff if something is amiss.
  • Diapers and baby wipes provided at the Changing Station are ONLY for emergency use. Patrons should use their own supplies whenever possible.
  • All patrons must clean up after themselves. Return toys and games to the appropriate bins.
  • Picture books may be checked out at the Circulation Desk. Furniture wipes are also available under the Changing Station.
  • Any personal/family items left overnight will be sent to University Lost and Found.
  • If you encounter problems, please notify the library staff at the Circulation Desk on the first floor immediately.
  • Failure to follow the Family Study Room rules may result in being asked to leave and /or the loss of room privileges.
