91ɬÂþ Business Building Dixie and Anne LeavittOn August 27, Southern Utah University is hosting a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new state-of-the-art business building at 4 p.m. The event will consist of a flag ceremony by ROTC, speakers, tours of the building and light refreshments. All are invited and encouraged to attend.

“We are thrilled to have a new building that will help our programs grow as we continue exploring new opportunities for our business students,” said Mary Pearson, dean for the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business. “The new building will provide needed space for students, professors, and professionals to collaborate and experiment with business ideas, assignments, and projects.”

The building is 42,000 square feet and consists of 15 classrooms, 38 offices, study spaces, an investment learning lab, an entrepreneurship lab, and an incubator space. The design purpose is to allow for efficient education for future business leaders, and to do so with a sound ethical base as well as with solid and dynamic knowledge and experience.

One of the business building’s innovative spaces will be the new Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Center for Entrepreneurship. The center, designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and innovation, will be a place for all students interested in starting their own company and learning to think like entrepreneurs.

“This is the first academic building, that I’m aware of, amongst all the regional universities in Utah that was funded primarily by donors,” said Scott L Wyatt 91ɬÂþ President. “Our community has really come together to make this happen. We are grateful for donor support along with the Legislature’s approval of the building.”

Momentum for the new building started in 2015, when 91ɬÂþ received $7.5 million from the Dixie and Anne Leavitt Foundation, the largest single gift in the school’s history. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in April 2017 and the project has been completed on time and ready for the 2018-19 academic year.

The Leavitt School of Business is AACSB accredited with more than 1000 students enrolled in the school. It offers undergraduate majors in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Hotel Resort and Hospitality Management, Management, and Marketing.  The business school offers graduate degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. The Accounting, Management, Masters of Accounting, and Masters of Business Administration are also available for online learners.
