SUBJECT: Library Committee
IV. POLICY
- Membership: The Southern Utah University (91ɬÂþ) Library Committee shall be appointed as follows: annually.
- One (1) faculty member appointed by the dean of each academic College/School. Appointments made for two (2) years on a rotating basis.
- One (1) faculty senator appointed annually by the Faculty Senate.
- Two (2) students appointed annually by the Student Body President for a one-year term beginning Fall semester.
- The Executive Director of the Library to serve as a non-voting member.
- Chair: To be elected annually by the Committee members.
- Functions: The Library Committee meets on an as-needed basis and is concerned with improving the Library's overall effectiveness. Periodically the Committee:
- Advises the Library in the area of gifts and collection development.
- Serves as liaison between the Colleges/Schools to insure input in library decisions by the 91ɬÂþ faculty.
- Recommends policy and procedures to the administration on behalf of the Library.
- Acts in an advisory capacity in formulating Library policy in regards to circulation, selection, etc.
- Review materials brought to the attention of the Library as having questionable value to the total collection.
- Authority: The Library Committee is directly responsible to the Executive Director of the Library.
VI. QUESTIONS/RESPONSIBLE OFFICE
The responsible office for this Policy is the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs. For questions about this Policy, contact the Executive Director of the Library.
