The Center is specifically for "tuition-paying" (not on an employee or spousal tuition waiver) student-parents at Southern Utah University or Southwest Technical College. Likewise, opportunities are given to support low-income graduate student-parents, low-income foreign student-parents, and second degree-seeking student-parents. At this time, we do not have availability for children of staff and faculty.
The Center is located at the former President’s Home at 302 S 1100 W, Cedar City, UT 84720.Map with child care center highlighted

Monday through Friday, from 7:30am to 5:30pm. Children can be part or full-time. Parents choose desired hours and days of the week for their child(ren). We are not a drop-in center: children must be in care for a minimum of three hours and chosen schedules will apply for the entire semester.

Rates are calculated hourly:
Children under two: $4.50/hour
Children two and over: $4.00/hour

Students choose their desired hours (minimum three consecutive) and desired days before the semester begins. We then calculate the total cost based on the number of hours over the course of each month. Student-parents will be billed monthly and payment is due on the 1st of each month.

A late fee of $5 per day will be applied for any payment made after the 5th of the month. Full payment for the semester may be made in advance. Payment is accepted in the form of checks, cash, debit card, and credit card.

Children must be picked up and dropped off promptly by their designated times. Late fees of $1 per child per minute will be incurred beyond their scheduled pick-up and drop-off.

Yes! Through the 91ɬÂþ Childcare, there are two different sources of funding to help pay for child care: CCAMPIS and the Tiny T-Bird Scholarship. CCAMPIS grant money can be used for any approved child care center. If you are not using 91ɬÂþ Child Care, you can still apply for and utilize CCAMPIS funds for your chosen child care center.

For more information on CCAMPIS, please read the Child Care Subsidy Information. The Tiny T-Bird Scholarship is applicable only to CCAMPIS recipients.

No, there is no transportation provided.

Our staff includes full-time Lead Teachers, student workers and non-student workers. All caregivers are required to pass a Child Care Licensing Background Check and fingerprinting, in addition to having CPR and First Aid Training for Infants and Children. Lead Teachers are hired full-time and therefore are not rotated in order to ensure consistency for the children in their care. We meet or exceed adult-to-child ratios as required by the Utah Department of Health for Licensed Child Care Centers. These ratios are:

Age of Children # of Caregivers # of Children Group size (w/ 2 caregivers
Birth-23 months 1 4 8
2 years old 1 7 14
3 years old 1 12 24
4 years old 1 15 30
School-age 1 20 40
We consider providing after school care from 3:30pm to 5:30pm for children up to the age of 10 on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately, we cannot provide care beyond 5:30pm at this time due to staffing issues.

Yes, parents are able to enroll their child in both 91ɬÂþ Childcare and 91ɬÂþ Preschool through our Childcare / Preschool Bundle. Please see our  for more information!

Each age group has an appropriate daily schedule for their level. Classrooms are divided by age group. Recommendations from the National Association for the Education of Young Children are used as a foundation for lesson planning, with an emphasis on Developmentally Appropriate Practice, which combines knowledge of child development and of the children as individuals.
We serve breakfast between 9:00am-9:30am, lunch from 11:30am-12:00pm, and an afternoon snack around 3:00pm. We have a food nutritionist on staff who ensures that the meals served are in accordance with USDA Food Program regulations. Infants and toddlers are on their own meal schedule as needed. Parents may elect to use their own formula or breastmilk. All other food is provided and food should not be brought from home. Please speak with the Center Manager regarding food allergies and sensitivities.
Students should know their schedule before they enroll for child care, as well as be enrolled for classes for the semester they are applying for. If accepted into the Center for Hope, required documentation includes immunization documents (updated record, schedule, or exemption), any applicable medical conditions and related documents, emergency contact information, forms for the food program, etc. Please be prepared to provide this information. Enrollment forms must be completed before the child can start their first day of care.
