SUMA Sidekicks
Inspired by SUMA’s extensive collection of rock n’ roll posters from the legendary concert venue, The Fillmore West, this Sidekicks season focuses on the energy, creativity, and iconic imagery of the late 1960s and early 1970s counterculture.
SUMA’s psychedelic posters and handbills were first collected by Scott Jones, the older brother of Jimmie Jones, a celebrated artist and Cedar City native, who donated the collection to SUMA, along with his final fifteen paintings and other treasures. Scott lived in San Francisco, immersing himself in the Haight-Ashbury scene at the time of immense cultural changes that were centered around art, peace, music, and love. The collection of Fillmore West posters he amassed and passed on to his brother are funky relics of this time and place, and these two brothers who loved art and music.

Perks of Being a Sidekick
SUMA Sidekicks is a FREE membership program for all students of Southern Utah University and Southwest Tech. Sidekicks members enjoy prizes, exclusive events, a 20% discount toward the SUMA Shop, and more!
Each month Sidekicks gather to create art, unwind, and learn something new. All supplies are included. Events are held the second Tuesday of each month from 4-5:30 p.m. at the museum.
